EDIT: Was told I needed to make it more clear that these are two DIFFERENT projects. You can join both of them or just one. I'm undertaking a couple of interesting approaches. Before I get into the details, please let me give some background to it all.
For the past couple months I feel like I've fallen into an artistic rut. I'm not satisfied with that I've been doing. I feel like my creativity is sometimes limited by nothing other than my own mind. I don't like it. I've never been influenced by another artist to take a different approach to my art. Now, I feel like my skills are limited and I want to change that.
I have currently have two ideas to change.
I'm going to start my own art study. This may take a couple months. Even years. This is a long term project for me. I'm going to be looking at a different time period AND place. I'm going to look at artists from the time and see what they were doing and than make my own art based off of their works.
I'm going to branch out I want to learn. I've already learned so much on my own that it's gotten boring for me. By expanding my knowledge of different art movements throughout history in different places I can get out of this rut(I'm hoping). I've been thinking about this for a long time and I'm finally motivated enough to start.
Now for the EXPERIMENT.
Beware: This may not make a lot of sense, but in my head, it does.
I want to be more creative. I want to lose the logic and reason behind my pictures. I've realized that I spend so much time
thinking of what I want to draw that by the time I start I'm already frustrated with it. The way I want to do this is through music. I want to
drown myself in music and completely isolate myself, not really thinking of anything except for the thoughts the music itself gives me. I'm really not sure exactly how to explain it but it honestly makes sense in my head.
It's going to be somewhat musical therapy as well.
I'm currently searching down music for playlists (*
flying-glove has been quite helpful as well). I have currently a couple different genres/band for this.
Anyone who wants to do this with me is more than welcome to. Once I get both my "projects" started I am more than happy to share my experience with others. You can also do this. I can send you the songs or suggested playlists. I can tell you each week which artist or era I'm focusing on. Anyone who wants to do this with me just let me know. I have a few people who have already shown interest.
I also want to see how others interpret this, which is why I want more people to do this with me.
If there's anything you want me to clarify, ask and I'll do my best.
